Personal Note from Val:  Having had 6 eye surgeries inNew Pic Val recent years, I know intimately how important our vision really is. It is especially important for service animals, whether they are dogs, cats, donkeys or horses.  If they can’t see, then they can’t perform their job!  However, it can sometimes be hard to know for sure if your animal is suffering from poor vision or losing their vision.  Listen now so you’ll know what signs to look for.  And if you have a service animal, or know someone who does, be SURE they know about this critically important annual event so they can participate.  If they apply during the month of April, they can receive FREE Eye Exams for their animals during the month of May from participating veterinarian ophthalmologists in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico.

<><><><><><><><>

Ben the disaster search and rescue dogGuide dogs, detection dogs, search and rescue dogs, therapy dogs and dogs assisting people with disabilities selflessly serve the public. To honor these animals and their work, the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (ACVO) is launching the 6th Annual ACVO®/Merial® National Service Dog Eye Exam Event to provide free, sight-saving eye exams to service animals during the month of May. More than 250 board certified veterinary ophthalmologists throughout the U.S., as well as Canada and Puerto Rico, are donating their time and resources to screen thousands of eligible service animals.  Service animal applicants must register during April for the event, which has provided free exams to more than 16,000 services animals since its launch in 2008.

For instance, Ben is a black American Field Labrador who can climb a three story ladder, unassisted. Ben’s eyesight is vital to his job. He is a search and rescue dog from Ventura, CA that can be called upon at any time to rescue someone who is alive, during a disaster. Ben’s handler, Eric Darling, has brought Ben to participate in the ACVO®/Merial® National Service Dog Eye Exam Event for two years in a row.  Eric and Dr. Nancy Bromberg, a board certified veterinary ophthalmologist, are here to talk about this exciting and important event.

These questions among others were asked and we learned a lot and so will you:

  • How did you get involved in the ACVO/Merial Annual Service Dog Eye Exam Event?
  • How many service animals have been helped to date?
  • Who participates in the event?
  • Why are eye exams so important?
  • What types of issues, problems or diseases are typically detected during the exams?

It’s mind-boggling to think about, I know.

But just for a moment, imagine how your life would change if you could communicate with your dog, cat or horse.  What if you could leap across all boundaries and discover your sense of connection with your animal friends and the whole circle of life?

I must confess I love seeing people just like you re-remember a long forgotten language – talking and listening telepathically from the mind and heart.  Nothing gives me more satisfaction.

What really excites me is that I know it’s possible for you to do the same.

I understand if you’re skeptical.  As a matter of fact, I encourage skepticism.  You should listen and observe with your heart, but not be so open your common sense falls out!

Perhaps you’ve heard from family or friends that telepathic communication is some kind of far-fetched woo-woo magic for strange people with purple robes and crystal balls. Nothing could be further from the truth! I’m just a Texas gal at heart that grew up surrounded by all kinds of creatures – and I don’t even own a purple robe. Truth be told, I’m probably a lot like you.

I know this because the fact that you’re reading this article tells me three things about you.

  1. You are enlightened and willing to consider that animals truly do have wisdom and knowing worth exploring.
  2. You want to better understand and improve your relationship with your animal.
  3. You and your pet may be struggling with health or behavior problems and you’re wondering what in the world to try next.

As an animal communicator, I’m truly concerned that you most likely aren’t getting the answers you want and deserve in your search for a better relationship with your animal friend.

So many of my clients have been exactly where you may be right now; struggling with relationship or behavior issues that spill over into other aspects of your life. And, I know it would be easy to turn away from this, thinking you’ve tried everything and there simply isn’t hope for your situation.

That simply isn’t true!  In fact, if you’re floundering in a wilderness of confusion right now, the first thing you must know is.

Animals Want To Be Heard!

Animals are telepathic.  They can see what is in your mind’s eye, and feel what you are feeling.  Have you ever noticed how Fido disappears when it’s time to go to the Vet?  Or how your pet appears almost magically when you have something good to eat? This isn’t an accident or a coincidence. If they are paying attention, they always know what’s going on.

They also want to help you. They do NOT want or need to be fixed because there’s nothing wrong with them. They DO need you to listen to and acknowledge them.

All You Have To Do Is Open Your Heart And Mind

You don’t have to have all the answers but you do need to have the heart to open up, listen, and be present with them.

Chances are if you have a heart’s desire to develop your telepathic abilities, you may be thinking something like this.

My animals matter to me!  I want to be more aware of them and understand how they think.

  • I think animals understand us more than we understand them.  They seem to have a wisdom that I wish they would share with me.
  • Sometimes I feel my animal is trying to tell me something but I just can’t get it.
  • I want to know what my animals need and want from me.  How they are feeling, if there is something physically wrong  or if they can help me in some way.
  • I want to be closer to my animals, to be able to connect at a deeper, richer level.  I want to add a whole extra dimension to my life.

All these things are possible and happen quite naturally when you connect with the fellow beings that share our planet.  Instead of experiencing life only from the lens of your perspective, you expand your awareness of all creation and introduce a new dimension to your world.  Imagine how thrilling that would be!

And once you open the doors to communication you and your animal can address:

  • Health issues
  • Emotional issues
  • Changing family structures
  • Performance
  • Euthanasia decisions
  • Death and dying
  • How to reconnect after leaving this world

Perhaps until now, you never thought to give your animal a voice in these situations that so drastically affects them.

It;s one of the most troubling aspects of trying to care for your animal. Because as much as you love them, you can’t give them the best possible life because so much of their world is closed off to you. You second-guess what may be troubling them, but in the end, you’re probably just shooting in the dark.

It is crucially important that you forget this because no matter how you define the problems you’re having right now, once you open your mind and heart to communicating with them, everything changes!

But you do need to be involved in the process.  It’s not a quick fix that happens over night.  This is something you have to be committed to in order to re-discover your God given telepathic abilities.  And when you learn to talk and listen to your animal:

Your Life Can Be Transformed In Ways You Never Dreamed Possible

Are you struggling with a behavior or training problem with your sport horse? Sport horses of all breeds are spirited, gifted and intelligent athletes. But if you get on the wrong side of your sport horse, then things can go bad in a hurry.

If any of these scenarios feel familiar, then you’ve got a real problem on your hands that may not be easily or quickly resolved through normal training methods or approaches.

* Does your Thoroughbred spook, act skittish or nervous in hand or under saddle?

* Is your Trakehner horse so heavy in your hands that you think your arms are going to fall off?

* Does your American Quarter horse stoically refuse to go forward… or run away with you once they get going?

* Does your Hanoverian dressage horse race along with their nose in the air and a hollow back, consistently evading the bit and your hands?

* Does your American Paint horse bite or nip at you (or others), or run away when you approach?

* Does your Appaloosa kick out, rear up, or strike out at you or others?

* Does your American Standardbred refuse to load (or unload) safely in a horse trailer?

* Does your Tennessee Walking horse hold their head so high you can’t bridle or halter them?

* Does your Andalusian horse constantly swish their tail or pin their ears under saddle?

If your sport horse does any of these things, then this is the perfect time to discover why — by asking your horse directly. The answers may surprise and entertain you, and will always help you grow dramatically in your horsemanship.

A 30 Minute Discussion with Your Horse Can Bring You Clarity on Why Your Horse is Misbehaving!

Your horse doesn’t have to be Mr. Ed in order for you to hear what they need to tell you, you just need to know how to listen with an open mind and heart.

Animal communicators are gifted with ability to have an in depth conversation with any animal, including horses. And after working with horses for most of my life and communicating with them professionally for almost 20 years, I’ve discovered that what the horse owner, rider or trainer thinks is going on is rarely the truth, from the horse’s viewpoint.

If you miss the boat on this one, then you will spend a lot of wasted energy, time and money going in the wrong direction in a hurry. You can even wind up being hurt – or your horse can lose their health, their willingness to work with you (their goodwill) or their home… and in the worst cases, lose their life.

What can you do with a horse who refuses to follow your direction?

Most often the trainer or rider blames the horse for the problem, thinking they are just being obnoxious or don’t want to perform. They rarely think about their horse experiencing an emotional, mental or physical problem.

But that’s as ignorant as it is disrespectful. Don’t blame your horse for their behavior or training problems, or their seeming inability to master a skill. It is time for you to assess what you may be doing wrong and make the appropriate changes to rebalance your relationship.

Your horse knows why they are behaving the way they are and it makes perfect sense to them. Poor communication is at the root of most every issue… and communication is always the key to resolving things.

When your horse refuses to follow your direction, then they are telling you:

* You’re not the boss of them…

* Your instructions don’t make sense or are not clear to them

* They have a problem with doing that, either because it hurts or confuses them

* They think they have a better way of doing that or giving you what they think you want

* You’re not being a good leader

If you want to have a happy healthy horse who is delighted to see you and work with you, then start here before doing anything else.

Your best horse trainer and riding instructor is not your trainer! It’s your horse!

Who knows better than them what is working or not? What hurts or is confusing, and why?

My horse and I were working very hard at picking up the correct canter lead. I’d ask the way I was being taught, and he’d either ignore the cue or toss his head or cross canter… rats. Then we’d try again, and again, with our teacher getting more exasperated at us, and we were getting more frustrated with each other with every stride.

Hot in the face and temper, I finally called a time out and asked my horse, “What is going on?! Why aren’t you giving me what I’ve been asking for? Don’t you understand my cues? I’m doing it exactly like our teacher told me to…”

He said, “Oh, I understand your ‘cues’ all right. But you’re in my way! Your seatbone is digging into my back on that side so I can’t lift my shoulder to step out, and your hand is so tight on the rein I can’t get my neck free.”

Ah Ha!! Mystery solved. He was absolutely right, of course.

I had been very heavy in my seat, my grip on the reins in my effort to ‘do it correctly’ had been growing tighter and tighter. I’d been forcing the cues ‘harder and harder’ in my exasperation, never realizing that what I was doing was exactly opposite of what I truly wanted.

So, I apologized and when we tried again, it was with delight (and gratitude!) that he effortlessly picked up the right canter lead.

Your best riding instructors (and trainers) are right there beneath your saddle (or at your side)! Why wouldn’t you ask them for help or feedback when you are trying to work through a difficulty?

So take a moment to reflect on what signals and cues you might be giving that they are reacting to. They know intimately better than anyone observing from the outside what we are doing wrong, if our signals or cues are being misinterpreted or applied in a confusing manner, or if we’re doing something that’s interfering with their ability to perform easily.

Allow them to teach you. You’ll be glad you did.

It is the rider and trainer’s responsibility to learn to communicate effectively so your horse understands what is being asked of them and can perform to their best with a willing and happy heart.

You can get what you need to know straight from your horses’ mouth! Communicating with your horse to resolve behavior or training problems will ultimately and quickly strengthen the bond between you and your horse.

Instead of fighting with a nightmare, you can begin to enjoy the horse of your dreams.

Personal Note from Val:  I truly found a kindred spirit in Allen and Linda.  They believe, as I do, that we should always view our animal companions with respect and appreciation.  Because when you look into the eyes of an animal, what you will discover is a spiritual SOUL that is experiencing this lifetime as your dog, or cat, or horse.  For those of us who have witnessed and been forever blessed by an animal’s love, this if for you!  Enjoy.

<><><><><><><><><><>

In 1996, Allen Anderson and Linda Anderson founded the Angel Animals Network in Minneapolis. Their fourteen books about the spiritual qualities of animals have been featured on Oprah.com, the Today Show, ABC’s Nightly News, BBC Radio, Washington Post, LA Times, Amazon.com’s Hot 100 and B&N’s Top 10.

The Andersons’ 2006 book about animal rescue won the prestigious American Society of Journalists & Authors Outstanding Book Award. They received commendations from the Governor their contributions as an authors to the state of Minnesota. Allen and Linda teach writing at the Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis and donate a portion of their books’ proceeds to animal welfare.  Today we’re here to talk about their book called A Dog Named Leaf.

Allen shares with us some interesting facts and answers:

  • Why Allen wrote the book with his wife Linda.
  • Allen’s diagnoses of a brain aneurysm that could burst any time and a blood clot aimed at his heart and the miracle of how these two conditions were discovered.
  • How Allen’s dramatic healing journey synchronizes with the adoption of an emotionally scarred dog who also needed to heal.
  • What role did animal communication play in the dual healing journey with Leaf and Allen?
  • How and why Allen and Linda started Angel Animals Network.

You should always view your animal companion with more respect and appreciation and when you look into the eyes of your beloved pet, you will see a SOUL that is experiencing this lifetime as your dog.

A Dog Named Leaf is available at bookstores and online nationwide and in libraries. Read the book with an open mind and heart, and change your life by knowing animals as the spiritual beings they truly are.

Have you ever had an amazing, life changing experience? Wished you could share it with someone else so they could experience it like you did complete with all the feelings, sounds, smells and images?

Telepathic interspecies communication is like that. You remember an experience and then offer it to someone else, from your heart to their heart, from your mind to their mind. Then, they can experience it almost as if they had been there, too.

Is this possible? You bet it is. Your animals have been trying to teach you about true, heart centered telepathic communication all their lives. Sometimes we get it and when we do, the experience changes our life! And sometimes we’re just too dense (or untrained or close minded) to hear their messages.

What can happen when you know how to connect and communicate with animals?

One animal communication student was so excited. She told me that she and her dressage horse were now in total sync with each other.

For instance, if she thought about going out to her barn to see or work with her horse and glanced out the window to see where her mare was in pasture, her horse at that very moment would lift her head and look at her there in the window in the house. Then, while she was still watching and before she even left the window, her mare would head off toward the barn to wait for her!

Every animal lover knows they have a special connection with the animals in their lives. Many young children can “hear” animals talk – that is, until others convince them that animal’s are dumb and unable to think for themselves.

The Barrier to Fun Filled Relationships with Animals

When we limit ourselves to the accepted modes of human speech, we shut ourselves down. And, sadly, we lose an important part of ourselves – our connection with all of Life.

Learning to communicate with animals is a gift many companion animals have been trying to give us every day of their lives.

Humans have traditionally thought of themselves as separate and more intelligent (read “important”) than other Beings unlike themselves. Since “others” don’t talk, look or act like we do, then they must be inferior in some way. Until recently, this had been easy to believe about animals since they cannot speak “our language”.

However, recent studies have discovered that other species are much more intelligent than previously thought, and may surpass human intelligence in many ways. Animals use a variety of communication techniques to converse with each other.

The use of sound frequencies, scents and body language are easily observed, and researchers now know there are additional variables. I believe that these variables are largely telepathic and energetic in nature, and that every Being is born with the ability to communicate on this level.

You read right – animals are telepathic! They can see what is in your mind’s eye, and feel what you are feeling.

Have you ever noticed how Fido disappears when it is time to go to the Vet or get a bath? Or how your animal senses your moods and knows exactly what you need? This isn’t an accident or a coincidence. When they pay attention, they always know what is going on with us.

Do you have something you have been trying to tell your animal friend?

Try this simple technique: Create a movie video in your imagination of exactly what you want them to know, complete with emotions and images. Don’t get too complicated; just concentrate on what you want them to understand or do. And then see what happens.

This technique is helpful in training situations, in preparing pets for changes in their lives, and in explaining what you want from them. Of course, this is only one-way communication, but it is a beginning.

Animal communication isn’t mind control. And, many times they may need to tell you something before they can (or are willing to) comply with your wishes.

Learning to communicate telepathically and share life experiences with other Beings is a priceless gift. It allows us to better understand that we are not alone, that we are connected, and that we can help each other.

Communicating intimately with other species also enriches our own lives through the sharing of our experiences with one another. Many companion animals choose to spend their lives attempting to break through our barriers, help us heal and become reconnected with all of Life and our Divine Nature.

If you’re really serious about re-discovering your telepathic ability so you can share life’s experiences with your animal, you don’t need to wait another day. Please don’t simply accept things the way they are now, you can re-remember how to talk with animals yourself.

Do this one thing for yourself and your forever animal friend, and watch how it changes your life and every relationship you have.

A client asked: “I’ve been a Christian for all my life, but recently realized that my beliefs are changing about the divinity of the universe, earth energies, reincarnation, Wicca, and other beliefs and philosophies. But I’m confused about what the real Truth is because there are so many opinions out there. I don’t want opinions. I want knowledge because I want to get the most out of what life I have left in this life time. How do you fit all of this together and know what the Truth actually is?”

Answer: In the words of Obi Wan Kenobi (Jedi master), “Truth is Relative.” What is true for one person at one period in their life may in fact change over time, as they explore and come to know a deeper Absolute Truth and as they evolve. And, what is true for one person may not be true for another.

Spiritual seekers must sort through a lot of information, experience, and beliefs in order to discover what is True. I believe this process continues throughout our whole life, and that we are called to discover Truths similar to a lifelong treasure hunt. The joy is in the journey of discovery of these Truths, and we call that life.

You want to know the Truth? Be sure you’re willing to handle the Truth when it comes. Because when the student is ready, the teacher appears. And the answers are not always easy, nor do they conform to what we thought we knew, what we were expecting, nor do they conform to what we’ve been taught or what we had accepted before or told was true.

Animals have a wisdom all their own that often surpasses human intelligence. I call these amazing beings angels, teachers and Wise Ones disguised as animals. Often they know what is true and what is not so they can help guide you on your spiritual journey towards enlightenment, but only when you know how to access their wisdom, hear their thoughts and invite them to share their heart.

Key Truths can be found in every belief, philosophy, or teaching, and even from other species.

They come to us through experience, through seemingly chance encounters, through religious documents, through epiphany’s and breakthroughs of understanding. They are to be found in movies, in stories, in myths and in books (fiction and non-fiction).

Teachers, gurus, ascended masters and our animals are here to help us connect with and understand Truth. Our interactions with each other teach us about ourselves and who we truly are, and ultimately guide us to the Truth.

Truths are literally all around you all the time, but they must be tested to discover whether in fact they are only true to a point or in certain situations, or if they are Absolutely True all the way through to the heart of the matter.

No one has all the Truths. But you do have a way to access and find them for yourself by seeking them diligently and with an open heart and mind, trusting your own intuitive ‘knowing’ and practice testing what you get. When you learn to trust your own intuition, you will have an internal GPS system that can guide you through what is true, what is True-er, what is Absolute Truth, and what is simply untrue.

Fundamentally, the answers you seek are already inside you. They dwell within what is called the God Mind, sometimes called the superconscious mind. To access them, you need only develop your Intuitive Intelligence Quotient (IIQ).

Learning to decipher and discern the information you are given every day from the world around you requires a bit of training. The more training you get the more confidence you will have in your ability to make sound decisions from your intuition, by listening to your gut.

What is intuition? And what does listening to our ‘gut’ have to do with truth?

Dictionary.com’s definition of intuition is “A direct perception of the truth, fact, etc., independent of any reasoning process; immediate apprehension or comprehension.”

I believe that the innate gift of our intuition acts like a super computer that is always gathering information much faster than our conscious mind can on its own. Think of it like this: Information is energy, and energy can transfer at the speed of light.

Your superconscious and unconscious minds analyze and process more than 90% of all information energetically and almost instantaneously. Contrast this to the fact that your conscious mind receives only 10% (at best) of the incoming sensory stimuli, and the processing speed of the conscious mind is extremely slow.

An apt analogy here would be to compare a super computer with the highest speed internet possible (your fully functioning innate Intuition) with a 1990’s edition personal computer with dial up (your conscious mind).

It is fascinating to realize that your conscious mind actually recognizes, reevaluates and reinterprets “life” after it has already happened based on prior conceptions, attitudes, expectations and beliefs. And if the ego mind is given data that doesn’t conform or fit with what it thinks it already knows, then it will either discard it or rewrite it to fit prior expectations and conceptions. Tricky, eh?

That’s why it’s not such a good idea to base decisions on the conscious mind alone without consulting your innate intuitive intelligence as well.

Since your subconscious mind takes in millions of bits of information in mere nanoseconds, it processes this information and gives your conscious mind the filtered data. If you don’t listen to your intuitive knowing, then you can’t make decisions from a quantum leap perspective. It happens so quickly that you have a sense of simply “knowing” the right from the wrong, the positive from the negative, the True from the untrue.

For example, have you ever gone somewhere and immediately felt it wasn’t safe? Your subconscious mind processed something that you didn’t see, hear, smell, touch or taste with your conscious mind, but recognized it as potentially dangerous and sent the signal in a way that your conscious mind could interpret correctly, if you’re paying attention.

Someone recently shared with me how they “feel” a knowingness in their body. When something is wrong she gets a strong tingly feeling in her chest. When she needs to make a decision about something she will quiet her mind and ask a question. If the answer is yes she gets a strong feeling of calmness all over. She has learned the art of discernment.

5 Simple Steps (Short Cuts) To Developing Your Intuition

1. Center yourself and get quiet. Follow your breath, in and out, and relax more with every breath cycle. To do this well, it is helpful to stand tall and balanced, but if you prefer to sit, that’s ok. It just may be a little harder at first until you get the hang of it. Close your eyes and feel the ground beneath your feet, the energies of the earth, and be fully present, right here, right now, nothing added. Let everything else go.

2. Connect with your heart (superconscious mind). Imagine that your heart has a direct connection with the Truth, and trust that this is so.

3. Connect with your gut (unconscious mind). Did you know that your gut possesses neural cells and is in fact your first brain? Neural cells originated in the gut first when your body was being formed in the womb, then a portion of these cells split off and began to form your spinal cord, then they formed your heart which is also lined with neural cells, then eventually became your head brain.

4. Connect with the idea, concept, or object that you are curious about and ask your question. Then, invite your body to either Lean In (meaning: yes I want more of that or I’m drawn to that, it’s okay to go there, it feels true) or Pulling Back (meaning: no that’s not good for me or I don’t want that, don’t go there, something is wrong or untrue).

5. Then, simply wait for your intuition (your gut) to signal you with its answer. Be patient. Receiving your answer can take as long as a second or a minute or two, depending on your ability to be fully present and clear in your request, and how much practice you have.

Leaning in means there’s something there to learn or to know that will lead you to a truth.

Pulling back means there’s something there that is repellant to your bodymind and intuitive knowing, an untruth, a lie or it’s simply not right for you at this time.

Standing in balance without leaning in or pushing away means your bodymind is neutral on the subject, it’s neither good or bad, positive or negative, true or untrue. It can also mean you have asked a question that is unclear or the answer isn’t a simple yes, no or neutral.

Everyone has their own unique and innate way of accessing, analyzing and interpreting information. Learning how to develop your intuition will significantly help you in learning to communicate with and understand animals and the world around you too.

This is why it’s so important to make a decision based on your intuition and not merely on your so called rational logical ego mind. Your gut knows more than your mind does about what you really need, what is good for you, and what isn’t.

It is definitely worth the investment of time and resources to learn to develop your intuition. It will help you make the best decisions for yourself, to access higher knowledge and extrasensory information, and can even help save your life.

**NOTE: A program that I highly recommend to strengthen your intuition was created by Lee Milteer. It is called, Intuition, the New Common Sense. For more information please visit http://budurl.com/milteerintuition

Learn 3 Secrets to Understanding Your Dogs, Cats and Horses and Stop the Expensive Guesswork That Can Cost Your Animal Their Life – and Empty Your Pocketbook

Hi, you know me – I’m Val Heart, The Real Dr Doolittle and internationally recognized Expert Animal Communicator with my best friend, Einstein.

You also know your animals have secret wisdom, knowledge and healing abilities, right?

Without communicating with them, you simply can’t know what they’re thinking, and you won’t be able to access their thoughts and innermost feelings.

You may think that the only option you have is to hire a professional to communicate or work with your animal friends.

But what if I told you that YOU can learn how to communicate with them simply by developing your own innate telepathic abilities?

Imagine, you could simply tune in and converse with them like you do with your best human friends, anytime day or night.
By asking them a question and listening in a different way using your heightened sensory perception, you could find out yourself how they’re feeling, if they are in pain, what they need or want, and even what they can tell you to improve your own life.

By now you’re probably wondering, “Sounds good, Val, but I don’t know if this will work for me – I’m not psychic. I can’t hear my animals thoughts.”

Is that really true? How do you know? Have you spent any time learning how? Anyone can learn a foreign language if they take the time and practice. And the best way to learn another language is to immerse yourself in it by first learning the basics, then developing and practicing their skills…

The truth is this: Your animals are communicating with you all the time… in every way they know how.

Most animals I’ve talked with tell me how sorry they feel for their humans because they seem so dense. They have to get really basic and very demonstrative before their human friend can understand them, and it saddens them because there is so much they want to share with you.

The remarkable fact is that you do pick up on some things… you may not know how you know what you know, or where the impression or thought came from. That’s because you are not as consciously aware, focused or open enough to hear them… yet.

If You Love or Have Animals in Your LIfe, You NEED to Know How to Communicate With Them.

Some animal owners simply talk with their animals for fun… because It’s so COOL to know what they are thinking, while others use animal communication to save money by avoiding expensive guesswork with unnecessary vet visits or trainers…

Ever wonder what would it be like to talk with the animals? Everybody loves the idea of having the gift of talking to the elephants, the chimpanzees, the Beverly Hills Chihuahuas, Felix the cat, Trigger or their favorite race horses, Willy (the whale from Free Willy the movie)… the very idea captures the imagination!

Every animal lover, young and old, has spent some time at some point wondering and wishing (and hoping and praying) their animals would suddenly speak to them.  Oh the things they could tell you… if only you could hear their voices!

Sure, we animal lovers talk TO our animals – all day long.  We baby talk, and coo, and fuss at them and we like to pretend that they understand us.  The problem is that most of us never hear them say much back.  It seems to be pretty much a one sided conversation.

They just look at us with those soulful eyes, intent long stares that make you wish you were privy to their thoughts.  You know they would love to tell you the secrets of the universe (or the latest neighborhood gossip) – if only you could hear them.

So is Dr Doolittle totally quacked – or is it really possible to hear what animals are thinking?

Naysayers think animals are dumb beings who can’t feel, think or reason; a non-intelligent species who couldn’t string two sentences together.  And after all, for folks who need things to be proven to them before they’ll attempt to understand something beyond their normal scope of what they have decided is or isn’t possible, and since animals don’t communicate with words in a spoken or written language, they simply can’t argue very convincingly in their favor.

But I say Nay-Nay!  As a professional animal communication expert, often called The Real Dr Doolittle, I have to tell you, it really is true.  I’ve enjoyed many an intelligent conversation with animals of all types, shapes and sizes.  Not only that, but I firmly believe you can too if you put a bit of effort into learning a new skill.

For instance, they’ve taught me about the importance of smells – and what amazing information that body of knowledge entails.

Did you know that cancer smells different to an animal?  Dogs have long been used to sniff out tumors in humans, they often know before a child is going to have a seizure and can warn their person when the insulin in their body is dropping to dangerous levels.  I know a delightful Bichon Frise named Romeo who does exactly that.

Dolphins are able to pinpoint and identify objects behind closed doors.  KoKo the gorilla knows hundreds of words and concepts in American sign language.  Koko even makes up his own words when he needs to express something he’s feeling but hasn’t been taught the sign for that yet.  And I just heard about someone who teaches sign language to dogs, cats and horses who do the same thing.

I find animals often wiser than many a human I’ve met.  They are amazing sentient beings with unique viewpoints, insights and clarity about what they need to be happy.

Ever met a human who shows no apparent signs of intelligence?  Personally, watching the incredibly stupid stunts humans do makes me worry about our species. Humans as a species can be as unreasoning as a rock (no offence to the rocks), as unfeeling as an ice cube (no offense to water), and act as silly as a tub of jello (and even though I liked jello as a kid, I’m not apologizing for that one…).

Animals have a remarkable way of touching our hearts, helping us feel unconditional love, of showing us what they are feeling and thinking every moment of their lives… if we have the wits, know-how and intelligence to learn how to understand THEIR rich, profound and wise language.

Animals communicate through telepathy (the energetic language of the mind and heart), and through body language, emotions and vocalizations just like we do.  It’s important to pay attention and become more consciously aware of yourself as fundamentally an energy being.

They know how to be honest with what they’re really feeling.  They know to rest when they’re tired, to ask for what they need, and to eat when they’re hungry. Not every human I know does this consistently, including moi.

They know how to be patient, loving and kind.  They know when to act to protect their stuff, who to trust and of whom to be wary.  They know how to accept the reality of life and not argue with what is.  They know how to embrace, connect and play with others.  They know how to be fully present and use all their senses.  They know how to live a good life.  And they rarely ever have regrets when they come to the end of their life’s journey.

Animals teach us how to be better humans with their wisdom, love, compassion, insights and viewpoints. Their gift is to reconnect us to the wisdom of the planet and intelligence of other beings.

We can learn a lot from learning to listen and talk with our animals. We might even be able to save our planet with their help…

And after all, we humans can use a little help too.

Working as an animal communicator, horse and rider trauma consultant and empowerment coach, I am often asked how people can get started when they want to learn how to “talk” to animals!

Love and respect are the two most important things to remember when communicating with our wonderful animal friends and never underestimate their wisdom! It never ceases to amaze me, just how aware they are about our physical and emotional issues and they love to help us in making sure we are as happy and healthy as possible. So it is only right that we should be just as vigilant for them. By learning to listen to their needs and advice we learn so much about ourselves and they very often “mirror” what is going on for us in their behaviour patterns and even take on physical symptoms for us.

So I always recommend before you start to try and hear what animals are “saying”, to sit quietly and really connect with your heart centre. It might help to close your eyes, so that you can really concentrate and focus on your task. Feel your heart opening like a beautiful bloom and imagine sending a silver or golden line, or beam of light, to connect with the heart centre of the animal. Imagine pouring as much love as possible along that line or beam. I also ask permission to connect with the animal with the deepest respect.

If you are just starting and want to practise, start with something simple like asking what might be their favourite food or friend, or a favourite place they like to be. It might be useful to have a notepad and pen to jot down whatever comes to mind as you learn to strengthen your telepathic skills. We all have these skills innate within us; it’s just that we have been programmed to think that telepathic communication could be considered as something weird and something that only certain people can do.

Working with your own animals can be a little more difficult as your emotions can get in the way and because you “know” them so well, you may dismiss your findings as “just your imagination” or wishful thinking. When you receive information that can be verified by the owner, even though it might have appeared nonsense to you, you know you can begin to trust your intuition and guidance from the animals.

Another way that I work, if my clients are overseas is to hold and concentrate on some of the animal’s hair that the owners have sent along with a photograph. You can amaze yourself by just starting to write whatever comes into your head. This may take the form of pictures, or what seems rather like a video clip of the animal’s experiences. Physical feelings, sounds, smells or even taste can be experienced. I had a case once where I heard Spanish being spoken and this was for an English client, so I thought I had got it wrong until I discovered that the little dog I was working on was rescued in Spain! Of course it is also vital that you relay any of your findings with the utmost integrity and care. Animals evoke strong emotions, especially if you are communicating with an animal that may have passed over, this is a very sensitive area and any information must be given with total compassion and empathy.

Always finish by thanking the animal for its help and patience. I often feel that animals are so much more in tune with our energies and nature than we are and that THEY are our teachers and guides. It must be so frustrating for them, when they try their hardest to alert us to some issues that need addressing either within the family or environment and we fail to understand what they are trying to tell us. This can result in some very challenging behaviour by them and many animals can put their homes and sometimes their very lives at risk, by doing this.

We need to remember that animals are so much more than just a dog, cat or a horse, they are multi dimensional beings and I am passionate about raising people’s understanding of this. I also believe that animals can choose to reincarnate to come back to us to continue a loving relationship, which illustrates just how committed they can be to maintain their deep connection to us. We really need to become more aware of their messages and act upon them, so practise, practice, practise! Good luck and happy chatting!

Einstein, the Original Dog Whisperer

I’ve been watching the new hit TV show Touched and one of the episodes started with this remarkable reminder about where the answers to our many questions really come from (kudos to the writers!). If you’re like me, full of questions, a born seeker, then you’ll enjoy this too:

”We always wait for messages, hoping for connection.  If you haven’t received the message, it doesn’t mean it hasn’t been sent to you.  Sometimes it means you haven’t listened hard enough.”

This is especially true of  animal communication. They constantly send messages to you, the question is whether you are listening hard enough to hear them.

With Divine Guidance, Spirit is always sending messages to help us live well, to express who we really are, and to fulfill the purpose we were sent here for.

The question is, are we listening? Are we following Guidance, or are we missing the boat entirely or getting the signals confused?

Neale Donald Walsh said:

“On this day of your life, I believe God wants you to know …that
your trust has not been misplaced.

“Listen to your Self today. You have been telling yourself something
very important for days now. Today, listen more closely. And heed.
Trust the still small voice within. Your soul is gently leading you to
your next step.”

I was first guided to learn about the healing power of Bach Flowers in the mid 1990′s, and have used them for myself, my family, my animals, and have recommended them to my clients and friends with great results.

I recently discovered Joan Jacobs and her remarkable work in holistic healing.  Her wealth of knowledge about healing is impressive (she teaches and practices in Negev, Israel).

So what else could I do?  I interviewed her about her depth of knowledge about the Bach Flowers and how she uses them with humans and animals.

I learned a great deal that I didn’t know and that is not common knowledge. You’ll love learning more about them too, regardless of whether you’ve been using them for years or are brand new to the concept.

Wishing you and your furrkids the miracle of healing,

Val
