According to a major review, the only factor for survival appears to be a belief that the therapy will work and a willingness to follow it religiously.
Patients who stick to their doctors orders fared equally well whether taking a drug or a sugar pill. In contrast, those who tended not to survive were those who were lax with their regimens, regardless of whether it was a placebo or an actual drug (BMJ, 2006; 333: 159).
Such studies suggest that our beliefs about our medicine, about the outcome of a health crisis, about our connections to our place in the world are a more powerful healer than any diet or exercise program; they protect us against the worst toxins and the greatest adversity.
Knowing this, every doctor now has a duty to never give a negative diagnosis, and every patient has a duty to follow only the regime that he truly believes in.
The thought it generates in us whether positive or negative is our most potent medicine. May we always use it wisely.
Acts of animal abuse go on every day, with many invisible and unreported. Hence, innocent, lovely creatures have to endure the most unpleasant and painful experience living here on earth – with us!
Like us, they just want to have a decent life, be loved, and be free to roam around without being subjected to all manner of abuse.
Animal abuse can take many forms and include
- Dumping and abandonment
- Neglect leading to starvation, disease, psychological distress, etc
- Slaughter house practices
- Puppy mills
- Organised dog fights/cock fights
- Tying up animals over their lifetimes
- Confining animals in small cages over their lifetimes
- Beating and other active, malicious forms of torture
When we get down to its essence, animal abuse is the inappropriate use of one’s power over a weaker being that cannot defend itself. It has parallels with child abusers and rapists inflicting pain on those who are vulnerable. Their victims are powerless and the offenders consequently mistreat them for their own selfish pleasures.
Over the past forty years, there have been numerous research studies showing the connection between animal abuse and human violence. This connection was first documented in the 1970′s when the United States FBI found that many serial killers had tortured or killed animals when they were children.
A 1997 study by the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and Northeastern University quantified that animal abusers were five times more likely to commit violent crimes against people than those without a history of animal abuse.
In fact, the American Psychiatric Association lists animal cruelty as a symptom of a serious psychological condition.
According to Dr Randall Lockwood of Washington University and Vice-President of the Humane Society of the United States, it has become widely accepted that the mistreatment of animals can be an indicator of many other forms of family violence and ongoing abuse and neglect, including child abuse, elder abuse, domestic violence and mistreatment of the disabled.
Dr Lockwood points out that a child’s cruelty to animals can also indicate that he is at high risk of becoming a perpetrator of violence in society later, perpetuating the cruelties that he or she has experienced.
Even as far back as the 17th century, the influential English philosopher John Locke said of children that “…tormenting and killing…beasts will, by degrees, harden their minds even towards men; and they who delight in the suffering and destruction of inferior creatures, will not be apt to be very compassionate or benign to those of their own kind.”
Therefore, we need to be especially attentive when a child tortures an animal or complains of his father mistreating his pet. These incidents can signal a higher risk of violence – within the child’s household currently, and/or by the child when he becomes an adult.
Clearly, there are significant benefits to be reaped from early identification and intervention. Another positive is that animal abusers can be rehabilitated. According to Dr Lockwood, “…we have also realised that the proper experiences with animals can provide a road back to empathy and compassion, and can be a powerful force for healing and a way of breaking the cycle of violence.”
Evidence of the strong association – between animal abuse and human violence – demands that animal abuse cannot be treated in isolation anymore. In line with this, authorities urgently need to develop policies and practices that are collaborative and multi-disciplinary. Critical are cross-reporting and the attendant cooperation between a range of professionals such as the police, child protection agencies, animal welfare agencies and veterinarians.
Equally, the police, governments and schools need to regularly send out strong messages that the abuse of animals or humans will not be tolerated because any abuse endangers society as a whole. To reinforce this, the police and courts need to treat animal abuse as a serious crime and not trivialise it as a minor offence.

In theory we understand that no disease can thrive or even exist in a properly alkaline pH environment in our body.
It’s not just a theory, however. It’s a proven fact substantiated by thousands of doctors and researchers over many years.
You may be saying to yourself, “If it sounds too good to be true, it’s probably not true.”
I get it, really I do. Like the doctor who witnessed this miraculous story, skepticism is a natural reaction when introduced to something new or unusual, such as Kangen Water.
But, when you find someone who had the incredible results like this 7 month old terminally ill baby, you just have to suspend your skepticism and know this really is the “real deal.”
Kangen Water Changes Lives – Saves Lives!
Keep in mind when reading this true story that animals have many of the same illnesses that we do, and they respond to Kangen Water like we do as well.

The Miraculous Story of a 7 month old Baby Girl With Untreatable and Inoperable Brain Stem Glioma as Shared by Dr. Raymond E. Stewart, BSEE, DC.
“As you know, I began drinking Kangen Water in June, 2009, and was enjoying the great benefits, but not really sharing the water with very many others. I was the classic “closet drinker.
Then in October, 2009 I attended the Change Your Life Weekend in Palm Desert, California to learn more about the Enagic company, the Kangen Water and the people involved.
While there in Palm Desert, I received a phone call from a former patient of mine from years gone by, who had heard that I had Kangen Water. I confirmed that I had an Enagic water ionizer, and she wanted to get some Kangen Water.
She went on to tearfully say that her little seven-month-old grand daughter, Christine, had just been diagnosed with an untreatable and inoperable brain stem glioma, and it was the type of cancer that did not respond well to any known treatments.
I phoned my daughter in Georgia and arranged for her to meet the grand mother at my home and give her Kangen Water. I instructed my former patient to have the child’s mother drink as much of the 9.5 pH water as she could since she was breast-feeding little Christine, and I also had them put the 9.5 in a bottle for the baby to drink between feedings.
I cautioned the family that I had no idea whether the water would be of any benefit, but it was worth a try.
That was October 2009, and in December 2009, little Christine was declared cancer-free by her oncologists.
Today, over a year and a half later, Christine is doing well and is normal in all respects.
That experience has brought me out of the closet, and I am sharing the water with everyone I know, and everyone I meet, and miracles keep happening.” - Dr. Raymond E. Stewart, BSEE, DC

Most people should not take the 80 milligram dose of simvastatin (Zocor, Vytorin, and generic), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said this week after it found a clear link between that dose and muscle pain as well as rare but potentially deadly muscle damage. Our medical consultants go one step further than the FDA, and say people taking any cholesterol-lowering drug should start at the lowest necessary dose.
The FDA made the announcement after reports to its adverse-events database and a recent clinical trial found that people who took high-dose simvastatin had a substantially greater risk of developing muscle problems. The danger was greater in older women and those who took simvastatin in addition to blood-pressure drugs known as calcium-channel blockers, particularly diltiazem (Cardizem and generic).
People starting drug treatment for elevated cholesterol, as well as those who’ve taken simvastatin for less than a year, should generally begin with or switch to a lower dose, the FDA said. It also said that people who’ve taken the 80 mg dose for 12 months or longer without any muscle problems could likely continue taking the drug. But our medical consultants say even those individuals should consider switching to the 40 mg dose, since the difference in cholesterol lowering between the two is only about 6 percent, according to the FDA.
Indeed, our medical consultants say that most people initiating treatment with any related statin—including atorvastatin (Lipitor), fluvastatin (Lescol and generic), lovastatin (Mevacor, Altoprev and generic), pravastatin (Pravachol and generic), and rosuvastatin (Crestor) —should usually start with the lowest available dose, and increase slowly, if necessary. That’s because all statins cause muscle pain and weakness in at least 5 to 10 percent of people (and perhaps as many as a third). And all pose a slight, but real, risk of triggering rhabdomyolysis, a rare condition that can cause kidney damage, kidney failure, and death.
The only exceptions are people who’ve already had a heart attack or have acute coronary syndrome plus a very high cholesterol level. Research shows those people are often best off with a 40 mg or 80 mg dose of atorvastain (Lipitor), according to our Best Buy Drugs Report on statins.
The FDA also warned about taking simvastatin with certain other drugs. Notably, it issued new limits for people taking simvastatin along with several heart medications:
• No more than 20 mg of simvastatin when taken with amlodipine (Norvasc and generic).
• No more than 10 mg of simvastatin when taken with diltiazem (Cardizem and generic) or verapamil (Verelan and generic).
• No more than 20 mg of simvastatin when taken with amiodarone (Cordarone).
• No more than 20 mg of simvastatin when taken with ranolazine (Ranexa).
Finally, the agency added several drugs to the list of medications that should never be used with simvastatin, including cyclosporine, danazol, gemfibrozil, and pocosaconazole.
Bottom line: Don’t suddenly stop taking your high-dose statin medication. But do talk to your doctor about possibly lowering the dose, especially if you’re an older woman or take any of the drugs mentioned above. If you‘re taking any statin drug and notice muscle pain, tenderness or weakness, dark or red-colored urine or unexplained tiredness, contact your doctor right away. Take the lowest dose of any statin drug that achieves the desired effect on LDL cholesterol.

You’re exhausted, but having trouble sleeping. You keep getting one lousy cold after another. You feel like there’s a heavy lid over your usual wellspring of happiness. You can’t seem to function right and don’t know why.
What’s going on?
From a psychological standpoint, you seem to be depressed. But from the point of view of energy medicine, you could very well be under psychic attack. Yes, consciously or unconsciously, someone may have formed an intention to harm you.
Maybe you have a mother-in-law who hates the fact that you stole away her precious son or daughter. Don’t discount the old “evil eye” she gives you whenever she can. Maybe you’ve got an ex whose negativity towards you is still strong, even years after the divorce. Or a “frenemy” who’s jealous because you still fit into the jeans you wore in high school.
Everyone, like it or not, has some darkness within, the infamous shadow side that is the storehouse of negative feelings. When these disturbing emotions are not acknowledged and released, the shadow side can get in the driver’s seat. That negative energy can, in fact, cause real problems for someone else. For example, I worked with a woman I’ll call Sandy, who came to me because she had lost all her zest for her new job. She’d been thrilled when she’d gotten her new position, with a substantial increase in income. Now she could barely drag herself to work.
The cause of her problem was obvious to me. I could see a “cord”—a psychic attachment—that connected her to her father. Although he was outwardly proud of his daughter’s accomplishment, inwardly he was jealous of her success, especially since he had recently been advised to take early retirement. I showed Sandy a powerful shamanic technique that helped her sever that negative cord from her father, while still retaining the good cords of love and respect between them. Soon she was once again happy at work.
That dark side is usually pretty low level as long as you are in touch with your feelings and you process them. The problem is that most people are unconscious of 90 percent of their thoughts and feelings. That’s why I’m forever urging people to meditate and journal—two of the best ways to get and stay in contact with how you really feel.
It’s your unprocessed negative feelings about yourself and your life, and about other people, that make up your shadow side. And when you act from your shadow, you come from a place of negative energy. That shadow energy attracts the dark forces from beyond, just like a magnet. It’s key to understand that, just like with everything else in your life, you always play a role in what happens to you; you aren’t a helpless victim.
Don’t discount psychic attack as too “out there.” It’s real. It happens all the time. But you can learn to protect yourself from psychic attack as well as how to clear yourself of negative energy, both your own and that which comes from outside yourself.
I tell you how to do just that in my new book, Be Your Own Shaman, (http://www.deborahkingcenter.com/BeYourOwnShaman/) and in this video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IoMLXebb3K0.

I was in a dermatologist’s office recently, and noticed a large, expensive glossy pamphlet on “Neuropathy in Diabetics” and others.
What is neuropathy?
Basically, it is a feeling of numbness, burning or tingling that occurs in the hands and feet.
For a diabetic, this numbness can lead to chronic injuries that get infected without the person even knowing it. This is one reason why diabetics can become amputees.
For others, some types of neuropathy can be associated with neurological issues. Some can be solved by your chiropractor or other body worker, as they can release a slight pinch on a nerve (usually in your neck or low back) that may be causing those symptoms.
For ALL other cases of Neuropathy, we always look at the B-Vitamin status of the person.
I was quite intrigued with this large glossy brochure in the doctor’s office, announcing a “major breakthrough” in neuropathy with this “new” prescription drug. I checked the ingredients and of course it was just good ole’ B-6, B-12 and Folic Acid, just like I always recommend. But THIS is a prescription, and from a doctor, so it must be really new and special, right? Not really, as the form of the B Vitamins in this product were not correct.
There are certain forms of B vitamins that work better than others. Here’s how to look for B6, B12 and Folic Acid in a multiple or in a B vitamin supplement.
First, the B-6…
This nutrient should appear as Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate (P5P), not as Pyridoxine. The P5P form is the “end-chain” form, fully broken down and ready to be absorbed. Pyridoxine requires work by the liver to make it useful. It is commonly used in cheaper multi vitamins.
B-12 is best taken sublingually – absorbed under the tongue straight into the bloodstream. B-12 requires “Intrinsic Factor” in the small intestine if it is swallowed as a pill, and many of us just don’t make it very well, so absorbing in the mouth is a good idea. The best form is METHYLcobalamin, but the common form is CYANOcobalamin. Please do not take cyanocobalamin as it creates a by-product similar to cyanide! Really!
Folic Acid has several forms. The best form, only used in professional vitamins such as those we carry from Pure Encapsulations and Thorne Research, is 5MTHF. This stands for 5-MethylTetraHydroFolate, and it is the “end-chain” form of Folic Acid requiring no further work to make it useful.
I have read studies showing that 30% of us cannot convert regular Folic Acid to 5MTHF. Please tell your friends who are pregnant, or planning to be, to look for this 5MTHF form.
Our intestines are supposed to make all our B Vitamins for us, but because of our history of prescription antibiotics, and the factory-raised meat we eat that was fed antibiotics, most of us have damaged intestines that cannot keep up with the B vitamin demands of modern life.
Check out our liquid end-chain B vitamins from Premier Research Labs. We highly recommend this product.
You don’t need a prescription for good vitamins, but it does help to know exactly what you are looking for….

Look on the labels of most bottled oils, salad dressings, margarine, and factory baked products such as bread and cereal for the FAT ingredient listing. What you will usually see are vegetable oils from corn or canola or soy, or “hydrogenated or partially-hydrogenated oil”, or “trans fat”.
If you see any of these, PUT IT BACK ON THE SHELF!Unfortunately, if you are in a restaurant you won’t get to read a package, but if they are cooking with vegetable oils such as margarine, corn oil or canola oil instead of butter and olive oil (and most of them are), you ARE eating hydrogenated fat and vegetable oils. (Also known as trans fats).
The worst offender, quality-wise, would be eating deep-fried food, which is cooked in vats of old oil, kept at boiling point, and used over and over again. YUK! Why avoid these hydrogenated (trans) fats or oils? Partially hydrogenated oils do not exist in nature, and they are highly processed. We only ate these fats beginning very recently in our history, and our bodies cannot process them.
In our natural diet, fats exist in a combination of saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats found in animals, eggs, nuts, seeds, olives, avocados, etc. Our human bodies are MADE to eat saturated fats, along with unprocessed nuts/seeds, olives and avocados. We were NEVER meant to eat corn oil, or soy oil, or canola oil, especially when it is genetically modified and highly chemically processed to make it hydrogenated.Hydrogenated vegetable oils cause inflammation in our arteries, joints and organs. They gum up our livers. They are THE bad guys of the fat world. It would be ideal to never eat one bit of hydrogenated or vegetable oil again.
Not what you’ve been told, is it? Stick with naturally occurring fats such as organic butter and olive oil, coconut oil, and ghee. If you are smart enough to be buying your meats from a rancher, by internet, or from the farmer’s market, the fats from pasture-fed meats are also good for you, including their CLA, a type of fat known to burn off “bad” fats in the body and help convert fat to lean muscle. So, go ahead, enjoy the good stuff! It really IS the GOOD stuff.

Oddly enough, there’s a relationship strategy that almost every tries at one time or another that they think will make things better but almost never does…
Talk about a communication challenge-this is certainly oneof the biggest!
Here’s what frequently happens…
When we are in a relationship with someone (especially our intimate partner or spouse) and we get triggered or upset, the first thing that usually happens is that we shut down to the other person in some way or another.
Some of us get mad or just peeved and some of uswithdraw, either agreeing to something we don’t want or disagreeing but withdrawing our energy.
However you shut down, the outcome is still the same-disconnection.
When you shut down emotionally or energetically, you are nowhere close to coming together on an agreement and a way to proceed to resolve the difference when this happens.
No matter how insignificant the issue, resentment can build and continue to separate you from the love and connection that you both may want.
You start doing what we call “talking on eggshells,” not reallysaying what you mean because irritation seems to be aconstant between you.
So what can you do when this happens?
How can you learn to say what you mean when it’s important to do so and it’s difficult to do so?
We created some great new strategies to help you with thisand many other important communication issues that you can find learn about at http://www.StopTalkingOnEggshells.combut here’s what we can tell you right now about it…
Although it may seem like the complete opposite of what youmight want to do or what might feel natural to do– one of the best things you can do when you’re having a difficult moment in your relationship or marriage is to open, even when it’s difficult to do it.
You’ll hear us saying this a lot but it’s so true and worth repeating–
Everything you do either moves you closer to or further from the love that you really want. It’s the choices you make in every moment that make the difference whether you keep a relationship alive or deaden it.
And, opening is a choice that you can make.
So how do you open up when you’re triggered and feel closed, angry, or withdrawn toward the other person?
Here are 3 tips to help you to open so that the two of you can begin to come to a resolution about whatever differences you might be experiencing…
1. Own your stories-What is it you are telling yourself about this situation? Are you holding on to being right? Take a moment and listen in on what you are saying to yourself about this situation. Ask yourself what it would mean to get your way or if you didn’t get your way. What are you telling yourself being right or getting your way will prove?
2. Remember that you love or even like this person-What is your desire with this relationship? If it’s connection and love, then bring your thoughts back to why you love this person, even though you may both be at odds at the moment. Remember that you aren’t always at odds (even though you may think you are at the moment) and bring your mind and heart back to times when you were on the same page.
3. Share and listen with love-What is it that you want to share from your heart? Be curious about what you want and also what the other wants. Know that you both have choice and listen and share from that feeling of wide openness.
Opening when you are triggered is a choice. You can stay stuck in negativity, possibly harming your relationship and certainly making your life miserable-or you can choose to open to maybe another alternative or way of doing things.
The choice is love or distance. Which do you choose?
