Val with blue jean vestI was grocery shopping when I heard the news about the tragic bombing in Boston at today’s marathon.

In addition to sending prayers and heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families, I wanted to offer you some guidance in case it also touched your heart with sadness.

My friend Marisa just reminded me of a favorite quote by Henry David Thoreau:

One is not born into the world to do everything but to do something.”

This echoes a core belief I hope we share:

We’re not here on this Earth to tackle every challenge.  We’re not meant to overcome every obstacle.  We’re here to do one thing.  That ONE thing is something that only we can do.

I’m a firm believer that if more people had the courage to listen to their heart and follow their love; if they gave themselves permission to heal and forgive those who have hurt them in the past; and, if they had the courage to fulfill their purpose to help make the world a better place…

If you just take care to do that one thing, then our world would be a more peaceful, safe and joyous place, for us and our animals.

Hope you feel the same way…

If you do, please leave a comment or offer your support below.

Be safe and know you are loved,

Val

deer_n_bunny_commune with shadow“Spring is nature’s way of saying, ‘Let’s party!’”  ~ Robin Williams

Many years ago, I was on staff for Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation.  Our job was to take in injured, orphaned and displaced wildlife and help them recover or relocate.

It was as fascinating and heartbreakingly difficult as it was rewarding and fulfilling.

I loved all the critters… (well, maybe not the crocodile so much).  But the raccoons, possums, leopards, bears, monkeys, lemurs, snakes, owls, macaws and parrots, bobcats, birds, bats…  you name it!

We just never knew what kind of animal would need our help next.  It was scary at times but never dull, that’s for sure.

For instance, Scarlet, the enormous macaw, almost took off my thumb in one bite through a heavy leather glove!  (We got to be good friends later…)  And I single handedly saved the enormous boas and pythons from freezing to death one winter… although at times I wasn’t sure I was going to survive, honestly.

I made a habit of communicating with all our animals because it helped their rehabilitation and healing, eased their stress and suffering so dramatically.

I developed a very special relationship with the fawns.  When they suffered an outbreak of an especially virulent disease, I was the one they told first.

I went to their enclosure one day and all 50 fawns crowded around me, excitedly clamoring for my attention.  They wanted me to know one of their companions felt bad and they were worried.

They knew that I could help, because I could hear them and they knew I loved them.  No one else had noticed anything wrong… yet.

Surrounded by a sea of leaping and dancing fawns, I asked the sick little guy to come to me so I could help.  They quickly reformed to let him come through the crowd and he stood quietly before me.

Listening carefully and with great compassion, I asked him a series of questions so I could understand what was wrong… and it was very serious indeed.

Then I thanked him, and promised to do my very best to help him feel better.

I immediately took off running to find our Director, Tim Ajax, so I could alert him to the pending epidemic.  Fortunately, Tim believed me and took immediate action.

During that time, I acted as the fawns’ mediator.  Continuing to offer support and love for the fawns, I told them what was going on, what we were going to do to help them.  And they continued to help me identify any new fawns who weren’t feeling well so they could get help too

Because of that, we were able to catch the problem in time and were able to save most of the herd.

Speaking of communicating with wildlife, you are going to love my podcast guest, Mingo Morvin, the Bear Whisperer!  His fabulous, furry and famous polar bear pal, Attu, has the most wonderful adventures.  And Mingo is pretty awesome himself!

Animals have voices, feelings, wisdom and Spirits just like we do – and they need us to be able to hear them, to honor and respect them, and to learn from them.

Much love to you and your furrkids,

Val

P.S.  Oh!  And Thank You SO much for your referrals!  They are much appreciated…

Val with vest with shadowRecently I was diagnosed with adult onset diabetes with a heart complication.  My alternative doctor wanted me to change my diet and try to manage/reverse the condition that way.  So I tried the Paleo diet but after a week, it was clear that it really wasn’t the right approach for me.

A friend told me about JJ Virgin and sent me her newest book, The Virgin Diet.  As soon as I read the cover and JJ’s theory and approach, I was hooked.

It just made so much sense to me!  She recommends eliminating the 7 high inflammatory foods out of our diet for 21 days to give us time to heal, repair and rebalance.

Inflammation is the underlying cause of most all our ailments, diseases, aches and pains.  And most of our inflammation is started in our gut and digestive track.

Then, after the elimination period, we reintroduce them one food category at a time one per week to discover how our body reacts to them.  If they cause no symptoms, then yea!  We can eat that.  Our body tolerates it well.

If they DO cause a reaction (bloating, gas, painful joints, blood sugar spikes, headaches, etc), then our body is telling us in no uncertain terms that that it’s not okay with that food yet.  Remove it from your diet for another 3 – 6 months, then try it again.

The recipes are easy and delicious, I’m eating better than I have in a long time, most all my cravings for sweets have gone.

My chronic fatigue is improved.  My memory is sharper.  I feel stronger.  My vision is clearer.  My blood sugar is almost normal now.

AND, I’ve effortlessly dropped almost 15 pounds in only 5 weeks.  What’s not to like about this diet?

I highly recommend this book and JJ’s approach.  She’s awesome!  Check it out:

val child with dog toy with shadowPenelope Smith, the Founder of Animal Communication, asked me to be the Featured Animal Communicator in her Species Link Magazine.

One of her first questions was about what kind of childhood I had as far as encouraging or discouraging my intuitive abilities and connection with animals and nature.  I thought my story might inspire you, so I wanted to share a preview:

Horses, pigs, chickens, dogs, cats, birds, guinea pigs, rabbits, fish, mice… all taught me how to be the human being I am today. I’ve been on television and radio many times, have subscribers, clients and students all over the world. I have been a columnist for Enjoy Whole Health Magazine and am a contributing writer to many other publications.

But, I started out a lonely only child in an isolated rural area outside of Austin, Texas.  I was lucky to enjoy the company of many animals growing up and they were my best and most constant friends.

When I was five years old, I fell in love with horses. My parents took me to a school fair and I discovered that one of my classmates, Nora, had horses. Her father trained horses for the cavalry, and they had brought one of their horses to the fair for us to ride.  Nora and I became fast friends, and I spent as much time as possible at her house learning to ride and handle horses.

I began training and handling horses professionally when I took my first job at 12 years old as a horse wrangler for a summer day camp in Austin, Texas. I was in charge of 2 Thoroughbred geldings and 5 ponies.

In addition to managing the horses, their facilities and care, I also helped teach the campers how to handle the horses, to be safe and learn how to ride.

I was given the task of training a 5 year old, here-to-fore unrideable, fat, sneaky, willful, obstinate, spoiled and very beautiful pony named Pearl to carry a rider and pull a cart. She had a great sense of humor and taught me so much.

I successfully managed to train Pearl to be ridden by my more advanced riders, but never figured out how to teach her to pull the cart. At the time I had no one to ask except the horses, and in retrospect, I was intuiting how to best accomplish the tasks I’d been given by being in partnership with the animals.

Looking back, I see very clearly that my connections and way with animals had much to do with my telepathic gifts.

I didn’t know how I knew what they felt or needed or were thinking, but I did. I was known for being able to befriend wild animals, feral cats, dogs and many others.

For instance, I knew Pearl wasn’t interested in dragging a cart around, and I didn’t have the heart to force her (plus she weighed a lot more than me!), and I didn’t know how to make it fun for her.  She taught me so much and the experience is one of my treasured memories.

What I’ve learned is that all animal lovers pick up information from their furrkids all the time. Most simply don’t know how to direct the conversations, or what to do with the information.

And that’s why I created the Animal Talk Coaching Club, so we can have mind and heart expansion conversations that will help you develop your intuitive skills, accuracy and ability to connect at a deep, heartfelt level.

Much love to you and your furrkids,

Val

“Remember to believe in yourself as much as you believe in and love your animals. Have the courage to be confident, the strength to be kind, and the wisdom to ask for help when you need it.” Val Heart

Val pic for personal note with shadow for NL 2-24-13If so, then the first question you need to ask yourself is this: How much do you love yourself on a scale of 1 – 10 (10 = 100%)?

The question may seem strange to you, but your answer is critical and reflects on how open your heart is to receive as well as give love in your life. If you don’t love yourself, how can others love you? If you don’t practice love, kindness, compassion on a daily basis, being gentle, supportive and powerful, then others can’t easily show up that way around you.

Remember the Law of Attraction?

If you aren’t resonating with love energy, then you don’t attract it to you either. Notice the quality of relationships you have in your life and see if they are what you really want, how they serve and support you, how much love is expressed and shared, how easy it is to share your true authentic self with each other.

If your relationships don’t bring you joy, more love (love shared is increased), and help you shine your blessings into the world, then something needs to change.  We only accept the love we think we deserve.

You can always ask for more love in your life. True love is what makes you brilliant, shiny, blessed, connected, inspired… It’s what makes your world and life make sense.

That’s my definition of a Soulmate, someone who inspires us to be better people.

Did you know that your animals can be your Soulmates too? Think of all the ways they inspire you, touch your heart, encourage you to grow, and all the remarkable ways they demonstrate their love.

Remember other species have voices, feelings, wisdom and divine Spirits just like we do – and they need us to be able to hear them, to honor and respect them, and to learn from them.

Much love to you and your furrkids,

Val

P.S. Oh! And Thank You SO much for your referrals! They are much appreciated…

“If you find yourself not honestly able to say, ‘I love where I am. I love who I’m with. I love what I’m doing,’ then something has to change. You have the power & freedom to make that change.”  Martin Brofman, Ph. D.

Elvis pic for personal note 2-17-13 NLI was driving along surfing channels on XM/Sirius looking for a new, fun station, and was amazed to find an entire channel devoted to the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley!

They broadcast live across the street from Graceland, and in addition to Elvis’ songs, they played old and new interviews, behind the scenes footage in the recording studio, etc.  What an amazing life he had, and what a legacy he left behind.

I’ve always enjoyed Elvis. In addition to the pelvis thing (what’s not to love about that?!), there was just something about his voice that was somehow authentic, heartfelt and passionate.

And that brought me back to my work with animals and the people who love them.  I’ve got a fun game that I’ll invite you to play with me.

When you hear a song, see if you can make it about your animals!  It will help you see them in a
whole new light.

For instance, my favorite Elvis song, “Love Me Tender”?  What if your animal was singing it to you?  I dare you to listen and not get a tear in your eye…

Or “In the Ghetto”…  what if an abandoned momma cat or dog was singing it about their homeless, lost, unwanted, hungry babies?

I know, I’m hopeless.  I’m in love with animals and their plights and situations touch my heart.

That’s why I do this important work.  We need to understand them, give them a voice, know their pain, their wisdom and their joy.  And when we do that, we become better people.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Imagine my dismay when I came home after running errands to interrupt burglars attempting to break into my house!?!

My first hint something was wrong was the mess they left in the garage.  I felt compelled to clean that up, because there were broken bits of glass everywhere and I didn’t want Einstein to cut his feet.  At that point I thought someone had tried to break into the garage through the window but they couldn’t get in because I have it rigged.

Next, I entered the house through the garage and immediately noticed something odd about my security alarm.  It wasn’t working properly.  No siren, no signal, odd.  And Einstein was very upset.

Then, I saw the real damage.  One of my patio doors was busted bad but still hanging on by a thread and amazingly enough the deadbolt was still intact.  Wow.

My other 2 doors also were damaged and my phones were out.  After calling 911, talking to the phone company, finding an emergency handyman to repair the damage, talking to my neighbor who heard noises, and of course, discussing it with Einstein, it dawned on me with a sense of awe that a major miracle had just occurred.

In fact, many blessings and miracles!  Let me explain.

> I came home before they got into the house so nothing was stolen and Einstein was unharmed.

> As I was compelled to clean up the garage, they had time to escape through the yard so there was no dreaded bad encounter.

> My neighbor kept getting distracted and neither she or her dogs come over to get caught in the middle of what could have been a   very dangerous situation.

> The damage was easily and inexpensively repaired, and the upside is my home is even more secure than before.

> Turns out the phone company disconnected my security service over a year ago due to inept technicians, but I didn’t know that.  Now that’s fixed and we’re back online.

> The phone company’s got some ‘splaining to do, and I may even get some free stuff out of it.

Want to know the biggest miracle of all? It’s a doozy.

Einstein has been sad, worried and moping around for weeks.  His appetite was off, and nothing I did was helping.  He didn’t seem to need a vet, but I’d about decided to take him in anyway because it was such a puzzle…

He’d come check on me frequently, gazing at me with those soulful, mournful big brown eyes.  When I’d ask him what was wrong, he told me he was worried about me.  Because I’d been sick with the flu, respiratory and the stomach bug that’s been going around, I thought that he was worried about my health, so I would tell him thanks for your concern but I’m feeling better now.

But he was still sad, worried and depressed.  So the morning of the attempted B&E, I asked him again, Einstein, what are you so worried about?

He replied, “What will happen if something bad happens to you?”

It took me aback.  I thought for a moment, and replied that if anything bad happened to me, then he would go live with his Aunt Lesley (who he loves) and her dog Milo, and that I would love him always.  And if I could recover, then he could come live with me again.

He said okay but wasn’t much relieved, was still tense and worried and I had to go.

Well, when I again spoke with him AFTER the incident, his spirits were elevated for the first time in weeks.

So I asked him to tell me what happened.  He said he’d been having nightmares about something very bad happening to me at home from very bad people, and me getting hurt or worse, even killed.  He said he’d been praying for help, and dreading the day.

He’d foreseen that I would be home sleeping, and bad people would break in and hurt me.  In fact, that could very easily have been the case because while I was out running errands, all I wanted to do was go home and take a nap!  But I kept being guided to do just one more errand, and then just one more, and then the traffic was slow, and then, oh yes, just one more errand… the message was clearly “don’t go home yet”.

If I’d been here, I would have been napping when they came and the side door would have been open most likely.

Einstein’s prayer was heard, and the Universe redirected my path out of harm’s way.  And I’m awed and truly grateful.

Remember that your animal’s are wiser than you know, they care about you too, they are connected with Spirit, and some conversations with them will blow your mind.

Much love to you and your furry, hairy, scaly and feathered friends,

Val

sassy val with robert allenA wise mentor once told me that the key to finding your passion is to look at your rants. What do you rant about? What gets you upset, what do you want to shout from the rooftops, what do you wish everyone on the planet knew?

For me, my rant is the fact that animals have a voice and we need to take the time to hear them, to respect them, and to understand their unique wisdom, because they are often our best teachers and healers.

It hurts my heart to know they are mistreated, misunderstood, and they even lose their lives, through no fault of their own, but simply because their humans were so blind and deaf that they didn’t take the time to listen to them, to honor their voice, their wisdom, their purpose.

For instance I was able to save my client Kendall Summerhawk thousands of dollars and a lot of time, worry and multiple trips to the vet with her valuable Andalusian stallion. Just by talking with him so he could tell us about his pain, his needs, and how homesick he was.

There are things you do every day that impact your animals negatively as well as positively. Just like a child needs to have a voice to say what they need, your animals need to be able to tell you what they are thinking too.

If you don’t listen, they can become aggressive or dangerous and act out badly in frustration. This can lead to the animal being put down or gotten rid of, which is completely avoidable, and to me, unacceptable.

That led me to connect with my purpose:

My mission is to improve the lives of animals the world over by helping humans learn how to speak their language, understand their viewpoints, and heal by reconnecting with the circle of life. After all, our love of animals helps us learn how to be better humans, and the more balanced and healthy we are, the more balanced and healthy they can be too.

For Lauren Michele McGarry, our remarkable podcast guest this week on The Real Dr. Doolittle Show, her passion is about honoring the blessing of horses in our lives by using yoga to improve our balance and connection.

Much love to you and your furrkids,

Val

“Nothing is mundane, everything is spiritual, all of life boils down to Spirit.” Robert G Allen, The One Minute Millionaire

So what’s your rant? Take a minute to express and share it with us, and you may discover at least part of your life’s purpose!

What a joy!  Sometimes turning the smallest hinge can open the BIGGEST doors in our lives.  Turning lives around quickly is my specialty, what I love doing the most.

Just this past week, I worked with a client who was so stressed out she could hardly hold it together and was ready to quit altogether… nothing was working for her.  Her finances were terrible, her cat just died, she got bad news about a lawsuit she was involved in, couldn’t get anyone to help her… her situation was dire indeed.

Yet, in just one hour, she made a HUGE shift – primarily due to this one critically important KEY to being happier, healthier and more successful.  She’s making new connections, is feeling enormously better, is Out Of The Box and making fantastic changes for herself.  She feels more empowered and is definitely happier.

Want to know what the Key is?

Simply put, it’s the importance and the magic of the He(ART) of Play.

It’s true for our animals too.  Did you know that every being on the planet plays?  Not just when they are little, but to stay healthy, sharp and balanced.   They continue to play all through their adult years until they are ready to pass on.  In fact, we often know when they are ill because their playful nature dies within them.

The tragedy is that too many of us die within before our time has come.  Why? Because we simply forgot to play.

One of the most important gifts animals give to US is that they invite us to play with them.  They demand it. They beg us for play time. They interupt our busy-ness, our seriousness, our fussyness, our obsessively stressful lives and invite us to drop our burdens and be silly, funny, lighthearted and joyful again.  To embrace the simple pleasures of life, to love ourselves and each other enough to let our guard down.  When we do, the burden of all our troubles is lifted for a time and we find ourselves again.

Every good relationship craves play, and healthy play together builds strong relationships.

On The Real Dr Doolittle Show this week, I interviewed the caretakers for The Gibbon Conservation Center.  Wow!  Did you know that the gibbons create duets and sing in chorus?  Amazing.  Their family groups are very similar to ours, their society is remarkable, and their lessons for us are profound.

If your animal has been begging you for play time, then make it a priority to accept their invitation.  It’s as much for YOUR health and well-being as it is for theirs.

How do you play?  What do you enjoy?  I want to know!  Let’s learn from each other.

Much love to you and your critters,

Val,  The Play Master

Learn 3 Secrets to Understanding Your Dogs, Cats and Horses and Stop the Expensive Guesswork That Can Cost Your Animal Their Life – and Empty Your Pocketbook

Hi, you know me – I’m Val Heart, The Real Dr Doolittle and internationally recognized Expert Animal Communicator with my best friend, Einstein.

You also know your animals have secret wisdom, knowledge and healing abilities, right?

Without communicating with them, you simply can’t know what they’re thinking, and you won’t be able to access their thoughts and innermost feelings.

You may think that the only option you have is to hire a professional to communicate or work with your animal friends.

But what if I told you that YOU can learn how to communicate with them simply by developing your own innate telepathic abilities?

Imagine, you could simply tune in and converse with them like you do with your best human friends, anytime day or night.
By asking them a question and listening in a different way using your heightened sensory perception, you could find out yourself how they’re feeling, if they are in pain, what they need or want, and even what they can tell you to improve your own life.

By now you’re probably wondering, “Sounds good, Val, but I don’t know if this will work for me – I’m not psychic. I can’t hear my animals thoughts.”

Is that really true? How do you know? Have you spent any time learning how? Anyone can learn a foreign language if they take the time and practice. And the best way to learn another language is to immerse yourself in it by first learning the basics, then developing and practicing their skills…

The truth is this: Your animals are communicating with you all the time… in every way they know how.

Most animals I’ve talked with tell me how sorry they feel for their humans because they seem so dense. They have to get really basic and very demonstrative before their human friend can understand them, and it saddens them because there is so much they want to share with you.

The remarkable fact is that you do pick up on some things… you may not know how you know what you know, or where the impression or thought came from. That’s because you are not as consciously aware, focused or open enough to hear them… yet.

If You Love or Have Animals in Your LIfe, You NEED to Know How to Communicate With Them.

Some animal owners simply talk with their animals for fun… because It’s so COOL to know what they are thinking, while others use animal communication to save money by avoiding expensive guesswork with unnecessary vet visits or trainers…

Did You Know That Being Able to Hear and Understand Your Animal’s Needs, Pains and Wants Can Actually Save Your Animal’s Life?
